A: Unlike traditional analog night vision that requires ambient light or IR, the NV-400B is a digital device. It often provides a sharper image with no distortion at the edges, has recording functions, and is generally more affordable and durable than Gen 2+ analog units.
Q: Can it be used in total darkness?
A: Yes. When in total darkness, activate the built-in infrared (IR) illuminator. It projects an invisible beam (850nm, with a faint red glow at close range) that illuminates the scene for the sensor.
Q: Is the image displayed in green like in the movies?
A: It has multiple modes. In low-light "Night" mode, the image is typically in black and white for maximum contrast and sensitivity. You can also use the IR mode for a similar effect. The "Day" mode is in full color.
Q: Can I use it during the day?
A: Absolutely. The device has a dedicated "Day" color mode, making it a versatile optical tool for both day and night use. Do not point it directly at the sun.
Q: How do I get the recorded videos and photos off the device?
A: You can either remove the microSD card and use a card reader, or connect the NV-400B directly to your computer using the provided USB-C cable to transfer files.

A: The "detection range" (seeing something is there) can be up to 300m under ideal conditions with maximum IR. The "recognition range" (identifying what it is, like a deer) is typically around 150m. Performance can be affected by weather, terrain, and target size/contrast.
